"Dragon Ball Super" latest episode revealed the death of Goku. Looks like rumors were true that the hero will die in episode 71 entitled 'The Death of Goku! The Guaranteed Assassination Mission.' But what rumors failed to predict was that Goku was indeed more powerful and a step ahead of his opponents as he fired a ki blast before his heart stopped. This massive energy blast managed to revive the hero to fight Hit in episode 72.

According to Inquisitr, Goku dies but survives episode 71 and this was through his own ingenuity. Yes, he will live to fight another episode to start another arc but the main question is left unanswered. Who hired Hit to assassinate Goku? Does Goku know who is behind this attempt?

There are speculations that Vados hired Hit to finish Goku before the "Universe Survival" arc starts. But of course, someone stronger and more powerful than Vados wants Goku dead and this may or may not be revealed in the next episode of "Dragon Ball Super." There are speculations that it's either Beerus or Whis who ordered the hero dead killed.

What is known is that Goku's death, and eventual revival, was just a way to build up the "Universe Survival" arc. It was revealed in episode 71 that the God of Destruction wants Goku to train for the Omniverse Tournament hosted by the Omni-King. This tournament will finally reveal who is the best in the Dragon Ball multi-universe.

Meanwhile, Attack of the Fanboy also has an exclusive about this controversial "Dragon Ball Super" episode. The report mentioned Goku's death and highlighted that this was because of Hit's new power called one punch; it also teases that Goku has died but up to how long?

Fans of "Dragon Ball Super" would just have to wait till next episode to see how Goku miraculously lives and how the final episode of the current arc will make way for the Omniverse Tournament. Episode 72 'Counterattack: An Invisible Assassination Skill" will air Christmas Day.
