The MacBook Pro has been imitated before, but never matched. Its combination of power, precision and style is remarkable. And it's cheaper then ever to own one.

However, some people just don't want to leave the Windows ecosystem. Therein lies the problem. What if you want a computer as slick and fast as the MacBook Pro, but without buying an Apple?

The Asus Zenbook NX500 may be the perfect machine for you. It combines a high resolution screen with bleeding edge NVIDIA GTX 850 graphics, a healthily helping of 16GB RAM, and a Core i7 processor. It also meets Ultrabook specifications for width (just 19mm) and weight (4.85 pounds), according to Engadget.

Let's look at the specs more in depth. Just how good is the NX50? The NX500's screen size is 15 inches and the resolution is 3840x2160p. That means it features an Ultra HD screen and packs in more pixels than Apple's vaunted Retina display (both 13- and 15-inch models.) Ultra HD isn't true cinema 4K as it's less wide, but it's pretty darn close and is the identical resolution of '4K' TVs being sold today.

The display also doubles as a touchscreen, which is great for the NX50's Windows 8.1 OS. But would you really want to smudge such a bright, vibrant display?

The GTX 850 GPU is a beast. Released in March, it's categorized as an upper mid-range card by Notebook Check. It's a more efficient chip than previous NVIDIA cards and contributes to better battery life for the NX500 overall.

The NX500 doesn't skimp on RAM. By providing prospective buyers with 16GB of RAM upfront, the NX500 won't need to be upgraded later. The 16GB of RAM means that programs will be able to process loads of information with minimal system slowdowns. Apple makes you pay hundreds of dollars for RAM upgrades (the standard configuration is 4GB).

Now how much does this machine cost? That is yet to be determined. Asus will have this machine ready for late August.

Anything you can think of this puppy can handle with ease. Silky smooth movie playback is a given. Bang & Olufsen speakers mean you're guaranteed crisp, clear audio playback. Even photo and HD video editing is fair game with the NX500.
