The newest additions to the cast for the next set of "Divergent" sequels have exceptional and Academy Award-winning talent.

As Latin Post reported last month, a new crop of actors and actresses is attached to the "Divergent" sequel, "Insurgent." The ever-growing tally of A-list celebrities -- Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Kate Winslet and Shailene Woodley in the previous film -- will be joined by Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts, Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer, Daniel Dae Kim ("Lost," "Hawaii Five-O") and "Parenthood" star Rosa Salazar.

Now, just because you have an A-list cast does not mean you have an exceptional film. However, Watts and Spencer have been consistently choosing good movie and TV roles -- Watts in "Diana" and "The Impossible" and Spencer in "Fruitvale Station," CBS comedy "Mom," NBC comedy "30 Rock" and the upcoming James Brown biopic "Get on Up."

Watts is expected to play Evelyn Johnson, Theo James' character Four's mother, in "Insurgent"; Watts' Evelyn is the leader of the Factionless. Spoilers! Evelyn faked her own death so she could escape her abusive husband and the faction of Abnegation, while leaving Four behind, Moviefone reported. Because Four's mother left, her son was left to face his abusive father's wrath. Four and Evelyn may not be thrilled to see each other.

Watts is expected to be in the remaining "Divergent" sequels: "Insurgent," "Allegiant: Part 1" and "Allegiant: Part 2." Meanwhile, Spencer is expected to play Johanna, leader of the Amity faction, in "Insurgent," The Los Angeles Times reported. No word on if Spencer will be in the "Allegiant" films.

Rounding out the cast is Kim from "Hawaii Five-O." Kim's role in "Insurgent" was revealed via the official "Divergent" Twitter account, and Kim also posted about it on his Facebook page. The "Divergent" tweet reads, "We wouldn't lie to you. @danieldaekim will play Candor's Jack Kang in The @Divergent Series: #Insurgent!" The Morning Call reported. So Kim will play the leader of Candor in "Insurgent."

Salazar has been cast as Lynn, a Dauntless-born initiate. In the books, Lynn is "beautiful and sporting a shaved head," The Hollywood Reporter wrote. Salazar's Lynn, at least in the books, is good friends with Uriah and Marlene.

Robert Schwentke ("The Time Traveler's Wife") will direct "Insurgent." The script will be written by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman.

"Insurgent" will see Woodley's Tris and James' Four, now fugitives, searching for answers to these questions: Why did Tris' family sacrifice their lives to protect them? And why are the Erudite leaders trying to stop them at all costs?

"Insurgent," now filming in Atlanta, is expected to be released March 20, while the third and fourth films in the series, "Allegiant: Part 1" and "Allegiant: Part 2," are expected to open March 18, 2016, and March 24, 2017, respectively.
