The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will have a live coast-to-coast telecast at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 25 on NBC. The likelihood of an early Sunday Night Football game prompted the organizers to schedule the 2014 Emmy Awards three weeks ahead of time.

Nominations are to be announced at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time July 10, while the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Seth Meyers, new host of "Late Night," will host the Emmys.

Predictions

"Game of Thrones" and "Breaking Bad" have good shots to win Outstanding Drama Series. But unexpectedly, so does "True Detective." "Breaking Bad" won last year.

"Modern Family" seems a cinch to win Outstanding Comedy Series for the fifth consecutive year. "Mad Men" actor John Hamm and "Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston head the pack for best actor in a drama series, but with the success of "True Detective," actor Matthew McConaughey has joined the conversation. The future of "True Detective" is still uncertain after Season 2, while Hamm and Cranston have ended or will end their shows this season. Winning again would just be icing for Matthew McConaughey, who had a spectacular year all around, including award-winning success in film at the Oscars.

For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Robin Williams has a good chance for "The Crazy Ones," and William H. Macy should be a contender for his role in "Shameless."

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series should go to "Scandal" actress Kerry Washington, but Julianna Margulies of "The Good Wife" and Robin Wright of "House of Cards" won't give up the race that easily.
