Floyd Mayweather is reportedly eyeing investing in other sports, with information circulating saying that the Michigan fighter has been working on owning an NBA franchise.

MARCA reported that Mayweather was asked about his investment plans in a chat with FightHype, wherein he answered that he is going to have a team whether it is in Las Vegas or not in Vegas.

Mayweather said that he has been working on that prospect for quite a while now behind the scenes and did not want to get it out until they knew it was "set in stone."

Floyd Mayweather NBA Team With LeBron James

Floyd Mayweather said at the press conference that he has been talking to certain individuals for the last six months, adding that he and his team have been working behind the scenes with the NBA.

The pro-boxers said that he cannot say exactly where, but he is working on getting a team, according to a Sporting News report.

Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James earlier discussed his interest in owning an NBA team. He also mentioned that Las Vegas was the ideal destination, with that dream following the end of his playing career.

The basketball star and the pro-boxer could be joining forces to start the prospect of owning an NBA team.

The NBA is already considering an expansion of the league, with cities such as Seattle and Nevada coming up to become new franchises.

The Spun noted that the expansion is set to happen after the league's current media rights deal expires in 2024.

Sources said that last summer, a number of teams that were considering relocating were also "looking fondly" at Las Vegas.

However, it seems like they will not be able to move there as the league is already planning on giving Vegas a team of its own.

Meanwhile, Seattle has not had an NBA franchise since the Sonics left town.

Floyd Mayweather's Wealth

Mayweather has a net worth of $450 million, making him the richest boxer of all time.

Celebrity Net Worth noted that his total career earnings top $1.1 billion. He is also the fifth highest-paid athlete of all time and one of just six athletes whose career earnings have topped $1 billion.

Floyd was consistently the highest-paid athlete in the world during his peak boxing years. He has very few endorsement deals but can easily earn $150-300 million a year when he fights.

He earned around $2 million from his first 15 fights that proceeded the 2005 match against Arturo Gatti.

The Michigan fighter also earned around $25 million outside the ring selling merchandise and from a handful of small endorsement deals.

In 2013, he earned around $50 million beating Robert Guerrero and $75 million when he fought Sail Alvarez.

He was also known to become a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2007 and finished ninth place.
