Jozy Altidore is set to make his much-awaited return for Team USA when they take on Belgium in the round of 16 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday in Brazil.

Altidore missed Team USA's match against Portugal and Germany in the group stages after sustaining a hamstring injury in their tournament opener against Ghana.

The star striker's status remained doubtful over the past few days, but Team USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann confirmed that he will be available in their showdown against Belgium.

The 24-year-old striker, who was in tears when he was carried off the field in the match against Ghana, is expected to provide an additional attacking threat for the United States, who have relied on Clint Dempsey in their last two games.

But while Altidore will be available for selection against Belgium, Klinsmann tempered expectations, saying that he is still unsure whether or not the 6-foot-1 striker will start or how many minutes he is going to play on Tuesday.

"We don't know how much [Altidore will play] because we didn't see how things were going, but he's available. And this is what we wanted. This is what we hoped for," Klinsmann said via Yahoo! Sports. "The medical staff has been working with Jozy and they have done a tremendous job, day and night. Just having him with us tomorrow is huge."

Belgium has been performing well in the tournament after winning in all three matches during the group stages. They won against Algeria 2-1 in their tournament opener, followed by 1-0 victories over Russia and South Korea.

Belgium will also be a confident team heading into their showdown, having dominated the USA team in their most recent meeting. In May 2013, they scored a 4-2 win against Team USA in a friendly game in Cleveland.
