Ever since Disney dropped Jonathan Majors as the main villain for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rumors and speculations have popped up regarding who will be the MCU's next main villain. Will Majors' character, Kang the Conqueror, stay as the main villain but be recast or will Marvel employ a brand new big bad to take over?

As Kang the Conqueror, Marvel set up Majors's character as the main villain of the franchise following the defeat of Thanos in "Avengers: End Game," initially introduced as the main villain for "Loki" before becoming the main villain for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." However, his sexual harassment and assault allegations interrupted his rising career.

As Latin Post previously reported, a New York jury found Majors guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault. This led to Disney dropping him from Marvel, leading to the future of the MCU being in question as Kang the Conqueror was at the center of so many plot threads across multiple MCU titles.

CBM reported that there have been conflicting reports since, but one of the loudest is that Majors may be replaced for the role of Kang the Conqueror by actor Colman Domingo.

The 54-year-old veteran actor is best known for his roles in "Fear the Walking Dead," "Lincoln," and "Selma." It was noted that recasting Kang is a lot simpler since the character has a lot of different "variants" that can be cast with a different actor.

New Main Villain for Marvel Cinematic Universe Still Also Viable Replacement Amid Jonathan Majors Exit

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in its "Multiverse Saga" with Majors' Kang the Conqueror being the villain that ties it all together. However, with his abrupt exit, Marvel may also choose not to recast the character but completely replace him with a new villain.

According to Fandomwire, a possible replacement for Kang would be the being known as The Beyonder. This is because there is the Cosmic Wonder theory that claims that the ruler of the multiverse is the combination of two different characters and they are Kang and The Beyonder. This means that it might be simple to introduce The Beyonder as a new variant of Kang.

However, this is just one of the many fan theories and speculations that have popped up since the verdict against Majors and the actor being dropped by Disney.

Disney Executives Discussed the Future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Following Jonathan Majors Exit

With Kang set up as the main villain of the fifth Avengers movie and Jonathan Majors having legal problems, Variety reported that Disney executives gathered in Palm Springs to discuss the situation.

The executives reportedly discussed backup plans, including pivoting to another comic book adversary, like Dr. Doom. However, this idea might cause problems as the MCU has already positioned Kang as the next big bad at that time.

"Marvel is truly f*cked with the whole Kang angle," a top dealmaker who has seen the final "Loki" episode told Variety. "And they haven't had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don't see a path to how they move forward with him."
