The cable network FXX has obtained the exclusive cable network rights to the longest-running animated series on prime time and will be making all seasons and episodes of "The Simpsons" fully searchable and available online, Deadline reported.

For the very first time, every episode of the series can be accessed on-demand through what FXX calls the "Simpsons World." Through their services, users will be able to create their own playlists, search for quotes, personalize lists, share their favorite clips and much more. Furthermore, authenticated subscribers will have access to these episodes on their gadgets including but not limited to smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and other set-top devices.

According to a previous announcement, FXX will be showing the longest Simpsons marathon ever by airing all episodes of the 25 seasons in a row plus "The Simpsons Movie" -- that's 522 episodes plus a full-length film.

It will run 24 hours a day for 12 straight days from the first to the last episode in chronological order, meaning that the movie will be shown after episode No. 400. The marathon will start on Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. ET/PT and will end on Sept. 1 at midnight.

Following the longest marathon in television ever, the cable network will schedule "The Simpsons" to be aired regularly at different times of the day depending on what day of the week it is, Entertainment Weekly reported. On Sundays, FXX will feature a mini-marathon of eight episodes beginning at 4 p.m. that will lead to the Fox showing of Simpsons at 8 p.m.

Four thematic marathons every year are also being planned by FXX, beginning with a 12-hour Halloween-themed marathon on Oct. 26, Sunday. "The Simpsons" will not be aired on Fox then because of their coverage of the World Series.

According to Deadline, executive producer of "The Simpsons" Al Jean has expressed his excitement with the plans of FXX regarding his creation, especially when it comes to the Simpsons World app.
