Thinking of picking up Madden 15? Make sure to go pre-order the game for Madden NFL 15 Ultimate Edition - XBox One or Madden NFL 15 - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition before its Aug. 26 release. In the meantime, here's the latest player ranking updates for your favorite NFL stars.

Not only did Richard Sherman receive the honor of being the Madden NFL 2015 cover man, he also received a perfect 99 overall (OVR) rating in the game. That means he's one of just a total of three players in the entire game to receive that perfect rating.

Cornerbacks

Sherman's performance in the 2013-2014 season as well as in the playoffs set him higher, but his public outburst to sideline reporter Erin Andrews catapulted him into the popular figure he is now.

That's not to say Sherman doesn't deserve the rating. He's one of the better corners in the league, but a perfect rating seems too high. In fact, Neil Greenberg of the Washington Post thinks Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals deserves to be the higher paid cornerback, so thus he should be rated higher in Madden 2015 too.

Peterson receives fourth place among cornerbacks behind Sherman (99 OVR), Darrelle Revis (97 OVR) and Joe Haden (95 OVR).

Revis, Sherman and Haden all receive a 98 rating for man coverage. Peterson can't be happy about this because he believes Sherman is not a shutdown corner like him. Peterson is almost always lined up against his opponent's best wide receivers while Sherman defends just one side of the field.

Defensive Ends

Another perfect player in this position. J.J. Watt gets a 99 OVR rating thanks to his power, ability to shed off blocks and his tackling ability.

Here's what Madden ratings czar told NFL.com about Watt:

"I think Watt knew exactly what he was doing when he chose #99, as it was a prediction of his own Madden rating. (He has) 99 Power Moves, 99 overall, 98 Block Shedding, 97 Tackle. If we didn't have a cap on it, Watt might be rated somewhere north of 105 OVR."

A 105 OVR rating? The czar and player rating experts must think Watt is going to go off this year. He only logged 10.5 sacks last year after recording 20.5 in 2012, so we'll see how he does in 2014.

Robert Quinn (97 OVR), Cameron Wake (96 OVR), Calais Campbell (96 OVR), Cameron Jordan (93 OVR) and Muhammad Wilkerson (93 OVR) fall next in line for the best DE's in the game.
