"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" kicked off the unofficial start of summer back in May. Now they are several spin-offs series planned including "The Sinister Six."

But the one that has most people talking is the Spider-Man all-female spin-off series.

Deadline exclusively announced almost two weeks ago about the all-female Spider-Man spin-off series. There were confirmations, speculations and rumors abound about which characters from the Spider-Man cannon will be in this female version.

First about Spider-Man and his nemesis friends. The next Spider-Man film is expected to debut in 2018, while the "Sinister Six" is expected to hit theaters on November 2016, Deadline reported. But this means that the all-female "Spider-Women" could get fast tracked as early as 2017.

After seeing the success of the Marvel films such as "Thor," "Iron Man" and "Captain America," as well as Fox's "X-Men" films, Sony Films is doing a complete revamp of the Spider-Man franchise. Besides starting with the "Sinister Six," the female-oriented Spider-Man could be both risky as well as exciting.

"Sinister Six" will be helmed by writer-director Drew Goddard ("The Cabin In The Woods"). It was announced at Comic-Con this year that the villains will be the first of several planned characters and story expansions of the Spider-Man franchise, Deadline reported.

Sony will first start with the villains then the heroic women will emerge. Lisa Joy ("Reminiscence" and HBO's "Westworld") will be penning the script for the "Spider-Women." And, Avid Arad and Matt Tolmach will be producing.

Sources and the comic book fandom believe that Silver Sable, Black Cat, Stunner, Firestar, and Spider-Woman, just to name a few could be the possibilities for this all female superhero cast.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has grossed $700 million worldwide, with these planned spin-offs it could put the wall crawler on the back burner for a while. This could even put "Spider-Man 4" up in the air, Entertainment Weekly reported.

However, the aforementioned choices and its cast of the all female Spider-Man spin-off deserves a closer look. Spider-Woman is Jessica Drew, a character with a mega comic book history. Jessica was actually a clone of Peter Parker, as well as a double-agent alien impostor, Entertainment Weekly reported. Black Cat was a super-thief, as well as Spider-Man's love interest, even more so than Mary Jane.

The all-female planned Spider-Man spin-off comes off of the heels of Marvel and DC's own announcements and major changes such as the female Thor, the African-American Captain America and the debut of Wonder Woman at this year's Comic-Con.

While an all-female cast sounds exciting, and the audience seems more than open to accept it, Entertainment Weekly asks: "Will the audience be willing to see a Spider-Man spin-off without Spider-Man?"

Just like how Spider-Man takes risks everyday in his universe to save the world, Sony is definitely on board to take the chance with its audience members as well.
