Nintendo has just confirmed that the rumor about at least one new character in Super Smash Bros. is true with the revelation that indeed Shulk from Wii RPG Xenoblade Chronicles will be in the Super Smash Bros. 4 sequel for Wii U and 3DS.

According to HITC, the appearance of a character from Xenoblade in Super Smash Bros. 4 is relevant not only because it is going to be available on Wii U but also because of the fact that the original Xenoblade Chronicles' 3DS port had recently been announced as an exclusive for the new 3DS and 3DS XL designs. It will initially be available only in Japan. According to the announcement, the hardware revisions include a beefed-up CPU that is needed to get the game running.

The confirmation of the inclusion of the Shulk character in Smash Bros. 4 happened during a 3DS Nintendo direct in Japan. Shulk, who will be wielding the Monado, will be a sword-heavy character like Marth and Link. The Monado is a mythical blade that plays a central role in the story of Xenoblade, and Shulk is the main protagonist in the aforementioned series.

Shulk will be using his Monado sword to hit his enemies with an energy beam from a distance, and when he activates the Monado Arts, Shulk's abilities and features will change. The moves listed by Nintendo indicate that Shulk will be a versatile and technical fighter, Game Rant reports.

Fans are thinking that there will be more confirmations of additional characters in the upcoming weeks since there has been a slew of leaks about Super Smash Bros. 4 recently.

It was also announced that Super Smash Bros for 3DS will be released in Japan on Sept. 13 and will be launched on Oct. 3 in Europe and the United States. The Wii version, on the other hand, will be available sometime during the holiday season.
