The San Francisco will look to even their series against the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 of the 2014 MLB World Series on Saturday at the AT&T Park in San Francisco.

After losing in the series opener, the Royals bounced back with two straight victories -- a 7-2 win on Wednesday, which was followed by a 3-2 victory on Friday.

The Royals are aiming to move one win away from taking the title this year, but the Giants are determined to go all out to tie the series. Previous reports indicated that the Giants would start ace pitcher Madison Bumgarner on short rest, but San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy confirmed that they will still go with Ryan Vogelsong on Saturday against Jason Vargas.

Bumgarner reportedly made himself available for Game 4, but the 25-year-old pitcher reiterated that he did not ask the staff to start him on Saturday, saying that he is confident that Vogelsong is capable of helping them bounce back from the two straight defeats.

"I didn't tell anybody that," Bumgarner said via ESPN. "Nobody. I didn't say anything even remotely close to that. I want it to be straightened up, because I don't know where that came from. I've been here with [Vogelsong] since 2011, and obviously we've seen what he can do. There's nobody I'd rather have out there more than him."

Vogelsong holds a 3-0 record with a 2.16 ERA in his six playoff starts, including an appearance during the 2012 World Series where he helped the Giants score a 2-0 win.

Vargas, on the other hand, would also be a big threat to the Giants' hitters after playing well in his first two postseason games, allowing just three runs in 11 1/3 innings. Royals manager Ned Yost expressed confidence that the left-hander would push them closer to winning the World Series.

"He was a guy that was consistent for us all year," Yost said. "Struggled a little bit his last three or four starts in September, but, again, a lot of that was mechanical, and he's made the adjustment."
