Although the tech world seems to be in agreement that Apple will likely unveil the iPad 5 and new iPad mini during its press event tomorrow, there is still disagreement as to whether a new Apple TV will also debut.

MG Siegler, a columnist for TechCrunch and a partner with Google Ventures, started a rumor that a new Apple TV would premiere this fall, but now Siegler isn't so sure.

In August, Siegler hinted that a new Apple television device would premiere in November.

"The latest things I've heard are some sort of television product - not necessarily a television screen, but something - could be coming as soon as this November," Siegler said on an episode of "The Talk Show". "... I don't know for sure what it could actually be, but there's been whispers about... the interaction with it being the interesting thing."

Then, in September, after Apple's press event that revealed the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iOS 7, Siegler further fueled the fiery rumor of the Apple TV.

"I guess those excited about a software refresh in a week are gonna be *really* excited when new Apple TV hardware is unveiled next month," Siegler said via Twitter.

On Oct. 19, in a blog post titled "Pouring A Small Amount of Water on the Apple TV Fire I Sort of Started," Siegler started backtracking.

"While I still haven't heard anything concrete, the most recent whispers I have heard is that the Apple TV project has been delayed a bit," he wrote. "That doesn't mean we won't see an Apple TV update at the event - we could see an updated unit with a spec bump or something. But the thing to be more excited about, the device with some sort of newfangled control system, doesn't seem like it's ready just yet... I wouldn't bet on some huge new Apple TV update at this event. I think the new iPads, Macs, and OS X Mavericks will be enough for one event for Apple."

Siegler also said he was unsure if the TV would premiere in November.

On the other hand, French and German Amazon websites say that the current third-generation Apple TV will become available again on Oct. 23, a day after Apple's upcoming press event. This has led some to believe that a re-worked Apple TV could still debut tomorrow.
