Dakota Johnson is thrilled to have won the part of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey. Rumors has it that Johnson's father, on the other hand, is not so pleased.

Some may recognize Dakota, 24, from her lead role in the short-lived Fox sitcom "Ben and Kate," but the young actress might be better known as the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. According to rumors by the tabloid Star via Classicalite, the "Miami Vice" actor is not happy with Dakota's newest role.

"Don has gotten more conservative as he's gotten older," a Star "insider" said. "Dakota's mom, Melanie Griffith, told him he's being a stick in the mud, but Don is a father and he doesn't want to see his daughter used as a sex object, even if it's only for a movie."

Assuming the rumors are true, it is not likely that Don's opinion will keep Dakota off the screen. Dakota has stated that she has wanted to become Anastasia, the naïve, virgin college student that becomes seduced and dominated by kinky business man Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), since she heard about the film.

"I just really understand it," Johnson told Entertainment Weekly. "I think it's an incredible love story, and that's why it's affected so many people. Erica [Author E.L. James] did a really good job of explaining how that just can happen sometimes, and you have this chemical pull to someone. Adding in the sex makes it perfect. Sometimes you feel a little bit naughty, and that's okay."

After immediately e-mailing her manager and begging for an audition for the role, Dakota eventually got the news of a lifetime.

"They said 'You got the offer,' and I couldn't speak," Johnson said. "I was just so relieved. I was crying and crying. Water was literally squirting out of my eyes because I had been so stressed out ..."
