Bruce Jenner recently sat down with Diane Sawyer for a candid interview about his transition from male to female.

"I'm me. I'm a person. This is who I am. I'm not stuck in anybody's body. My brain is much more female than male," Jenner told Sawyer. "For all intents and purposes, I am a woman."

During the interview which aired on ABC on Friday, Jenner explained that it was most difficult to tell his children and his stepchildren about his transition.

Though Jenner's stepdaughter Kim Kardashian was initially hesitant in accepting Jenner's transition, her husband Kanye West was more open minded to his decision.

Jenner revealed that it was Kanye West who encouraged Kim Kardashian to be more open and accepting toward his transition, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The Olympian athlete recalled the day that Kim became more accepting of who he is.

"Kim told me a story. She goes, 'You know what really turned me around on thinking about this?' I said, 'What?' She goes, 'Kanye.' I went, 'Oh, okay,'" Jenner said.

"He says to Kim, 'Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I'm nothing if I can't be me. If I can't be true to myself, they don't mean anything.'"

He added, "Since then, Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it."

Since Jenner's interview, Kanye West has not spoken publicly about his father-in-law's transition. However, Kardashian's ex-husband Kris Humphries made a controversial statement on Twitter regarding his former father-in-law's decision.

Check out Kris' tweet below.

Humphries' tweet was immediately met with backlash from social media users who labeled the NBA star as ignorant and pointed out that it was Kim who initially filed for divorce and "got out" of their marriage.

Following the backlash, Humphries clarified what he meant by the tweet insisting that he is in full support of Bruce's transition. Humphries also apologized to those who misinterpreted his tweet and noted that the tweet was vague.

Jenner will continue to document his transition on a new E! docu-series. Jenner's E! documentary will be an eight part series that will premiere on July 26 at 9 p.m. EST.

Jeff Olde, the VP of E! programming and development, commented on the series and Jenner's courageous announcement. Olde described Jenner a "incredibly courageous and an inspiration" and said that E! is in full support of his decision and proud of him.

"This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time," Olde said.
