It's official: Miley Cyrus is too scandalous for television... in France!

According to The Huffington Post, Cyrus is banned -- along with Britney Spears -- until after 10 p.m, because "Wrecking Ball" and "Work B*tch" respectively are, literally, too sexy for French television. "[t]he French broadcast watchdog Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) has determined that Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and Britney Spears' "Work B-tch" videos are not suitable for daytime television. The music videos may now only be shown after 10 p.m., a time when more adult-appropriate content sneaks onto the screen. CSA said that Cyrus' naked construction swings are too sexually explicit, and that Spears' bondage in the video depicts "a sadomachistic universe representing women in a way that risks shocking many viewers," reports the Huffington Post.

And according to Perez Hilton, this isn't the first time that Britney has gotten banned in France (although it definitely is the first time that Miley's received the ban). Perez writes, "K, well we can kinda see why they're doing this. Miley writhing around naked on a wrecking ball and bondage Brit-Brit aren't exactly G-rated. But we're surprised France of all places would have a problem with some sexiness on the tube! This isn't the only ban that Britney has gotten over in Europe either! We reported in October about the UK similarly deciding to only show Spears' Work Bitch video after 10 p.m. When all the kiddos have all gone to bed."

The daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley held minor roles in the television series Doc and the film Big Fish in her childhood. In 2006, Cyrus rose to prominence as a teen idol after being cast in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, in which she portrayed the starring character Miley Stewart. Cyrus is recognized as among the most successful artists to originate from The Walt Disney Company. She has five non-consecutive number-one albums on the U.S. Billboard 200, two of which are soundtracks credited to her titular character Hannah Montana, and has earned numerous awards and nominations.

In 2010, Cyrus ranked number thirteen on Forbes' Celebrity 100, and was named the "Most Charted Teenager" in the 2011 Guinness World Records with twenty-nine Billboard Hot 100 entries as of November 2009. In 2013, she was recognized as the "Artist of the Year" by MTV.
