Playing Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the Netflix award-winning "Orange Is the New Black" takes a lot out of actress Uzo Aduba, so having an active and fulfilled life is vital to balance out real life vs. her onscreen madness.

The Emmy Award winner was born to Nigerian immigrants and was raised in Massachusetts before moving to New York City after college to pursue theater.

What better way to get your foot in the door than to live in the Big Apple, home of the Great White Way, right? Well, it's not that easy -- at first.

According to The New York Times (who recently spent an entire Sunday with Aduba) she "was instantly enamored of New York and its rhythms" when she first arrived.

"It felt bigger than life," she said to The New York Times.

Once the 34-year-old actress had the NYC transit system down pat, she then felt like a true New Yorker going along with the fast-paced flow of the city.

While Aduba, who lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, doesn't have to rely on a subway map anymore, she will continue to stick out for her award-winning fame.

When at home, Aduba admits that like her "OITNB" fans, she also binge-watches! Her life in Fort Greene, Brooklyn also includes rising ealy and a daily regimen that consists of TV marathons and reality TV.

"My body now is on, like, a timer, so it usually wakes up anywhere between 6:45 and 7:30," she said. "Then I'll just kind of roll over again until like 9, 9:30. I catch up on my 'Scandal' -- usually it's one episode of 'Scandal,' one episode of 'How to Get Away With Murder' or my 'Real Housewives.' I love 'Real Housewives.' It's modern-day Greek tragedy."

Aduba, who proudly completed the Boston Marathon this year, is also a foodie and cooks up a healthy storm in the kitchen. When she's home, she makes a veggie, egg-white omelet, which may include "turkey bacon, some berries, maybe a slice of toast." She keeps hydrated with green tea and water.

The actress also wants to take more advantage of living in Fort Greene, where foodies feast.

"I'm trying to eat out more in Brooklyn, in my neighborhood," she said. "I have friends who are showing me new places." Aduba also pointed out that her last day job was waiting tables at Jane in Manhattan, which she considers to be her "go-to brunch place."

After taking on the most challenging marathon -- the Boston Marathon, Aduba also loves to exercise and she brings her "OITNB" cast mate or her sister along for the calorie-burning session.

"I love SoulCycle. My cast mate Taylor and I go a lot together -- or my sister Chi-Chi. That's my very best friend in the entire world," she said.

Aduba and her sister lived together in Sunnyside, then moved to Astoria and finally Brooklyn.

The third season of "Orange Is the New Black" begins on June 12.
