Daniel Craig has decided not to retire the role of James Bond for another five years.

According to a recent Sony Spokesperson Craig will fulfill his contract. The spokesperson said in an interview with the Daily Star, "Daniel has assured us he will fulfill his contract."

The news comes as a surprise as there were rumors that Craig was seriously considering bowing out of the role especially after the accident he suffered during production of “Spectre.” The contract is currently until 2020, which could mean that Craig has one or two films to complete before his term expires.

Over the past months rumors over who the next Bond will be have been surfacing the internet. One of the candidates that has been on the radar is Damian Lewis. The actor has been a favorite for some time as well as Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) and Idris Elba (“Luther”). However, these actors will have to wait before taking over for Craig.

James Bond fans will get to see Craig this year as “Spectre” hits cinemas in November. Agent 007’s 24th adventure will see an iconic opening as he races against the clock to foil an evil scheme at the famous Mexican festival Day of the Dead. The sequence is said to be the largest ever for a James Bond movie and it was reported that it took six months for the hundreds of individual "death" costumes to be made. It was also reported that it took 75 minutes for 1,500 extras to be dressed and made up on the day by an army of make-up artists and wardrobe assistants.

“Spectre” tells the story of a cryptic message from Bond's past that sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. Meanwhile, M must battle political forces to keep the secret service alive. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci.
