Former FIFA member Chuck Blazer received a lifetime ban for his role in the FIFA scandal.

According to BBC Sports, Blazer has been banned by FIFA for life for his role in the FIFA scandal. Blazer is already facing charges of bribery, money laundering and tax evasion. Blazer and the 14 other former members of FIFA recently admitted that they embezzled over $150 million in a 24-year period.

Blazer had also facilitated bribes during the 1998 World Cup and also accepted bribes in connection with the choice of South Africa as 2010 World Cup host.

In a statement by FIFA about Blazer's lifetime ban, they stated via CNN: "Mr Blazer committed many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly during his time as an official in different high-ranking and influential positions at FIFA and CONCACAF."

They continued: "In his positions as a football official, he was a key player in schemes involving the offer, acceptance, payment and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments, bribes and kickbacks as well as other money-making schemes."

According to CNN, Blazer started to cooperate with U.S. federal government officials from the FBI and IRS in 2011 and reportedly used a keychain wired with a microphone to gather evidence at the London 2012 Olympics.

Blazer had served on the FIFA Executive Committee from 1997 to 2013 and also had served as the CONCACAF general secretary from 1990 to 2011.

Blazer, now 70, told a Brooklyn court in November 2013 that he had been treated for rectal cancer. He forfeited more than $1.9 million at the time of his plea and has agreed to pay more when he is sentenced.

It is not known how much time Blazer will serve in prison if convicted. He is awaiting trial for his crimes.
