Stephanie Catley becomes the first women soccer player to grace the cover of EA Sports' FIFA 16 video game. However, she will only appear on Australia's version of the game.

Full FIFA reports the Australian defender will join Lionel Messi on the Australian cover version of FIFA 16, becoming the first female athlete to appear on the cover of the popular video game. On her Instagram account, Catley posted the Australian cover of FIFA 16. You can check it out below:

Catley also issued a statement on her being on the cover of FIFA 16.

"Words can't describe the excitement I'm feeling about being on the cover of FIFA 16. It's a dream come true," Catley said.

"It's been a huge year for the Matildas and getting this recognition from EA SPORTS and FIFA fans for all our hard work is a great step forward for women's football on both a local and global scale. ...," she continued. "I've always been a huge FIFA fan and knowing that I will be playable in the game, as well as being on the cover alongside Lionel Messi, is a career highlight for me."

Catley, who plays for the Portland Thorns, started her career at age 15 in 2009 where she made three starts during her first professional season. In 2013, she helped lead the Melbourne Victory to their first league championship game where they lost to Sydney FC. She joined the Portland Thorns in 2014 and made her Thorns FC debut June 7 against the Western New York Flash, earning the start and playing all 90 minutes.

On Aug. 13, the third and final soccer player will be revealed on the Australian cover. Fans can vote for the following players: Liverpool FC's Jordan Henderson for United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, C.D. Guadalajara's Marco Fabián for Mexico, Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid for France, Chelsea FC's Juan Cuadrado for Latin America and Shinji Kagawa for Japan.
