Fans of Samsung phones will be pleased to know that the Galaxy Grand 2 has finally been released, and after much speculation amongst the techno-ratti, the much-anticipated Galaxy S5 has received a release date!

First, let's talk about the Galaxy Grand 2. While it's certainly comparable to the Galaxy Grand, its super-high price and stiff competition (against the near-indomitable Apple series) makes it a very tough sell to the consumer market. According to Think Digit, some of the pro's of the Galaxy Grand 2 include its good screen, nice build quality, and phenomenal performance. However, on the flip side, the smudgable screen and super-high price make it a not-so-viable option. According to NDTV, some of the specs of the Grand 2 include:

  • A 5.20" display screen
  • 1280x720 resolution
  • 8GB of storage
  • 1.2 GhZ processor
  • 1.5 GB of RAM
  • 8 MP rear camera
  • 1.9 MP front camera
  • Android 4.3 operating system
  • Variable colors

Meanwhile, according to CBR Online, it's been confirmed that on Feb. 24, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will premiere in Barcelona, Spain, at the Mobile World Conference. This "soft release" will precede the "hard release" in mid-March. Unlike the Galaxy Grand, the S5 comes with a super-high resolution screen (2560 x 1440, according to some insiders), an aluminum chassis, and a fingerprint scanner. In addition, the S5 will have a 2.5 GhZ Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 16MP rear camera. If the fingerprint scanner turns out to be a hoax, Samsung has confirmed that the S5 will, indeed, have a retina scanner embedded within the phone. It will run on a high-end Android 4.4 operating system, and it's speculated that the "start" price will be comparable to the S4 (which would be approximately $600 US).
