You might have heard the name of actor Joaquín Ferreira making the rounds online the past few days. Ferreira, who is Argentinian, is starring in Netflix's first Spanish-language original series, but it's his male assets that everyone is talking about.

"Club De Cuervos," directed by Gaz Alazraki, centers on a family feuding over the rights to a soccer club after the death of the club's owner.

The Huffington Post compared the drama and comedy of the new show to "Orange Is The New Black," a series that features a variety of nudity. The difference in that show is that it's the women who are often naked. In "Club De Cuervos" it is Ferreira, as soccer star "El Potro."

The actor has been open about sharing the attention his nudity is receiving, even posting images on Instagram that laugh at the nicknames he's getting or sharing photo shoots in various states of undress.

Unlike female nudity on television and film, male nudity tends to be a taboo and is often used in situations outside of sexual encounters. For example, images of Ferreira's full-frontal scenes show the actor undressed in a locker room.

According to Fox News, in 2012 full-frontal nudity saw a rise on television. With just one previous incident in 2010-2011, 2012 saw a total of 64 full-frontal moments on television, however, these included a lot of female nudity.

Shows like "True Blood," "Shameless," "Weeds, "Rome," and "Oz" have featured male nudity and full-frontal scenes, as do several films, but it's usually by white males.

Last year Ben Affleck made headlines with his blink-and-you'll-miss-it full frontal scene in "Gone Girl." According to Popsugar, the actor joined the short list of Hollywood actors who have gone full-frontal, which includes Diego Luna in "Y Tu Mamá También," Michael Fassbender in "Shame," Jude Law in "The Talented Mr. Ripley," Kevin Bacon in "Wild Things," and Ewan Mcgregor, who has done full-frontal in five films.

Regardless of these actors barring it all on camera, male nudity in Spanish-language television is far more rare, making Ferreira's addition to the list that much more unique.

Producer and star of the series, Luis Gerardo Méndez, discussed the moment that Ferreira came in to audition for the show and he knew he would be perfect for the role.

"It was very clear that his character had to be the sex symbol that would have all the girls and gay boys attached to the TV screen, and when he walked into the room, he got it," he said.
