Two years ago, Magic Mike exceeded all expectations at the box office. The Channing Tatum movie about a group of male strippers wasn't expected to be a hit, but it was. Making just under $40 million in its opening weekend the sequel rumors began to surface. There was a lot of talk about a Magic Mike 2, as well as adapting the film into a Broadway play. Once the initial intrigue of Tatum's box office success had worn off and the film was released to retailers the rumors began to dissipate and discussions about a follow up hit had vanished.

That was until earlier this week when Tatum offered the public a subtle hint that there is in fact going to be a Magic Mike 2 and he has finally started writing it. Tatum casually tweeted a photo of himself on Sunday donning a fun fedora as he was looking at a script with a pen in his mouth. His tweet simply implied he had started writing the long awaited, but somewhat forgotten sequel.

Details regarding the follow up haven't been released. Back when the hype was still in the air regarding the first installment, Stephen Soderbergh, who directed Magic Mike, did state that their idea for a second movie would involve something that is based on a real life experience that happened in Tatum's past. It was something they wanted to include in the first movie but were unable because of the depth.

It appears Magic Mike 2 will be a continuation of the original unless Tatum decided differently while writing the script. Regardless of what the script will entail it can almost be assured that Warner Bros. will give the project a go after the script is completed due to the success of the first move. However, they cannot expect it to be as big of a hit as the first movie if Tatum isn't dancing in the upcoming sequel.
