A new trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been unveiled online.

Lucasfilm shared a video clip on Instagram that was short but revealed two key images. While two images reveal the first order and Kylo Ren's lightsaber, the images that really stood out were the first look at an intense-looking Finn wielding his blue lightsaber as he prepares to square off against Kylo Ren and a shot of Rey and BB8 staring into the sky. Over the video there is also the familiar voice over that says, "There has been an awakening." That voice over was already heard in the Asian trailer that premiered online a few months ago and is the voice of Andy Serkis' Snoke.

The new image of Finn holding the lightsaber has made fans question whether Finn is a Jedi and what the character's story arc will be in the upcoming film. It also questions who the main protagonist will be and how Rey will figure into the story.

Finally the music seems to be a variation on the imperial march, suggesting that the first order comes from the empire but has assumed its own distinct identity.

Lucasfilm and Disney are slowly revealing new elements of the upcoming film and the marketing has proven successful as the Instagram post received 157,000 likes and over 30,748 comments. That is a staggering number for an Instagram post and it is proving fruitful as anticipation and hype are growing.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps but there have been rumors through the year which include Han Solo dying at the end of the film and Luke Skywalker only having a cameo role.

J.J. Abrams directed the film with a cast that includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong'o. John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Max Von Sydow, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Warwick Davis and Peter Mayhew also star in the film.

Disney is planning a one-month IMAX run and the film is scheduled for a Dec. 18, 2015 release.
