There will be a lot to look forward to when "The Good Wife" kicks off Season 7 this fall on CBS as Alicia Florrick recovers from a political scandal and her husband launches a campaign to run for president.

During an interview Deadline, Christine Baranski opened up about her role as Diane Lockhart and what's to come for Alicia, played series star Julianna Margulies, as she tries to get her life and career back in order in the new season.

"Alicia is, of course, not running for office, but having a great deal of ambivalence about having to be the wife of the man that's running. Because of the political scandal she was involved in, with all the recounted votes, and her reputation tainted, now she's trying to get back to a more essential part of her being, which is just really loving the law," said the Emmy-nominated actress.

"It starts with her in bond court," Baranski teased. "And of course, good old Lockhart Argos Lee, as it's now called, has its share of internal turmoil, and Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) is always lurking in the shadows, wreaking havoc."

Baranski also talked about the influx of new cast members who will be introduced in the upcoming season in the wake of the departure of Archie Panjabi's beloved Kalinda.

"We have marvelous new actors, and they stand to make a huge contribution and freshen up the show. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Peter Gallagher are two guys on the show, we needed some male energy in the mix, and of course Margo Martindale and this marvelous young actress Cush Jumbo-I think they're all just completely different and a wonderful contribution, said Baranski.

"We lost our Archie (Panjabi) and Josh (Charles) along the way, but in the course of many years, there's going to be change in a show. In the case of this season, people are going to sit up in their seats and be very excited about the new talent we have coming on," Baranski continued.

Series co-creator Robert King also unveiled that there is a possibility that Jess Weixler's fan favorite character Robyn will return in the new season.

"Can everybody write Jess Weixler and get her to move to New York again?" said the EP jokingly about the actress who plays Robyn and who is based in L.A., reports TVLine. King explained that budget restrictions prevent the show from "flying her out for every episode" for the time being, but "things may change; they always do."

In the meantime, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast to play an investigator in the wake of Kalinda's absence. However, King teased that Morgan's character will work at both Lockhart Agos Lee and Alicia's fledgling new practice, which "is going to cause some strain" between the rival firms.

The new season of "The Good Wife" kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
