2015 FIBA Americas Championship Day 2 Results

Argentina sent a strong message to the rest of the field that they are still a force to reckon with this year after scoring their second victory in as many games.

Argentina, a perennial title contender, posted a 94-87 victory against the star-studded Canadian squad on Tuesday, leaning on a strong performance from veteran forward Luis Scola.

Scola, who has been a major factor for Argentina's successful international campaigns over the past several years, was unstoppable on Tuesday. The 35-year-old scored 35 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field to go along with 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Nicolas Laprovittola also had a big night for Argentina, as he finished with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds and four assists, while veteran forward Andres Nocioni chipped in 15 points and five boards for his squad.

"We played at a high level much of the minutes, with exception in some streaks, but we faced the best team in the tournament, Canada," Argentina coach Sergio Hernandez said via the tournament's official website. "We took advantage of the experience of Scola and Nocioni over some of the young Canadian players.

2015 NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins and former 2013 NBA first-overall pick Anthony Bennett led Canada with 13 points and six rebounds each, while fellow NBA player Kelly Olynyk had a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds, in their loss to Argentina.
