World-class boxing trainer Freddie Roach is confident that World Boxing Council middleweight champion Miguel Cotto will retain his crown against Mexican sensation Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

For the veteran trainer, "Canelo" may be a fair boxer, but his skills inside the ring will not be enough to crush Puerto Rico's pride nor score a win either way, Boxing Scene reported.

"I'm not scared of this guy. Just because he's a pretty boy and all the girls like watching him fight - doesn't mean he's a good fighter. He's okay, but he's not going to beat my guy - I promise you. At 3-1 [odds], I'm going to bet both my houses," Roach said.

Yet, this prediction may fall on dead ears at Team "Canelo's" camp because the 25-year-old boxer's trainer, Edison Reynoso, already dismissed Roach's credibility in giving fight forecasts, noted an August article from the Boxing Scene, citing the Mexican coach's interview with ESPN Deportes.

"In his recent fights, Roach has not been so successful. He had the perfect plan for Pacquiao with Marquez [and Pacquiao got knocked out] and he had the perfect plan to beat Mayweather and [Pacquiao lost by decision]. So I think they are the words of someone who has not been very wise in their predictions and we will not take [his words] into account," Reynoso said, in response to Roach's reported prediction that Cotto could knock "Canelo" down.

These remarks from Alvarez' side may what have prompted the WBC champ to come to Roach's defense recently when he spoke to El Vocero that Reynoso's accomplishments are so little compared to what his trainer achieved. Cotto even said that "the only things Canelo can say about Reynoso is that he had 42 fights [with him], that he was undefeated at one time, and when he went up against his first major challenge [with Floyd Mayweather] he looked like a rookie," another report from Boxing Scene noted.

However, Roach and Cotto may not like it at all, but "Canelo" is becoming the favorite to emerge as the winner on their middleweight title fight. Even the undefeated fighter Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, who desires to unite the middleweight division, is also betting on "Canelo" to win, according to the same news outlet.

Antonio Margarito, who faced Cotto twice in his career, with the 2011 rematch resulted to his retirement due to a serious eye injury, per an ESPN report, also thinks the younger boxer will be the new WBC champ, informed the boxing site.
