World-class boxing trainer Freddie Roach wants another prestigious fight for World Boxing Council middleweight champ Miguel Cotto, aside from the interesting bouts he could be lined up for next year if he successfully defends his title against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Roach desires for the Puerto Rican pride to have a rematch with Mayweather if the undefeated boxer changes his mind and returns in the ring, Boxing Scene reported. The veteran trainer is especially looking forward to this match because it's also what his 34-year-old boxer, who lost to Mayweather in 2012 via a unanimous decision, per BoxRec, yearns for. Cotto reportedly felt that he can defeat the unbeaten Mayweather by a stoppage as long as Roach is there to guide him.

"After this fight [with Canelo Alvarez on November 21], if Mayweather is available I'd like to get that one more time because [Cotto] said he would knock him out if I was in his corner, and I like that fight for him," Roach said.

Cotto also shared on New York Daily News his goal of fighting again with Mayweather. He's certain that it's a match people will watch.

However, Team Cotto's dream of a shot against "The Money" may not be realized as the year's highest paid athlete is firm with his retirement, nor is he willing to face Cotto again or today's superstars in boxing even if he comes back, a separate article from Boxing Scene noted. The 38-year-old boxer replied with what can be taken as a resounding "no" when asked if a fight with the winner of the WBC title fight between Cotto and "Canelo" would interest him.

"Are you just getting into the Floyd Mayweather business? You should know that I beat Canelo, Pacquiao and Cotto. Ain't none of them my 49th fight, and not interested in them or a 50th fight," Mayweather replied.

Miguel Cotto vs. Gennady Golovkin Next?

Aside from Mayweather, Roach is excited to see Cotto, whom he believes will knock out the younger "Canelo," facing Gennady Golovkin next, a Boxing Scene article informed. Roach predicted via FightHub that Golovkin will "kill" the International Boxing Federation champion David Lemieux in their unification bout on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The winner of this Golovkin-Lemieux match is reportedly mandated to face the victor of the Cotto-Canelo bout.

Thus, Roach claims that an interesting Cotto-Golovkin battle is imminent, which Cotto may also survive and triumph, too, since the coach feels "GGG" is not that "invincible" as people think.
