Nintendo announced the arrival of the fifth game within the Paper Mario franchise to be Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, and the release date for the European release has been moved forward to Dec. 4, 2015.

The game was originally scheduled for a Spring 2016 release, and while it is suspected that the North American release of the title has also moved up, Nintendo of Europe hasn't been able to confirm this. IGN has reached out to Nintendo of America to confirm this.

Mario and Luigi Paper Jam combines the playing style of the classic Mario and Luigi titles with the graphical style of the Paper Mario franchise, as the game frequently switches between 3-D and 1-D models of the characters. The series has classically employed a lot of RPG elements in their games, however Paper Jam seems to run similar to the Mario Party games.

The game will have players take control of Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario, in a quest to defeat Bowser. Using each of the three characters skillfully will be key in the game, as each will carry abilities to allow the player's success.

Here's the game's synopsis:

"When Luigi accidentally opens a mysterious book hidden away in Peach's Castle, he gets more than he bargained for when characters from the Paper Mario universe spill out of the pages and start running amok. Players must take control of the terrific trio of Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario to defeat Bowser and Paper Bowser and bring the Paper Mario characters back to their original world."

The four previous titles in the series include Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: Sticker Star. The last game was the first Paper Mario game to be released on the Nintendo 3DS and released in 2012.
