Adele was recently accused of ripping off Tom Waits' song "Martha" with her new single "Hello."

The 27-year-old British singer has broken records with "Hello," the lead single off her upcoming album, "25." But some Waits fans are pointing out similarities in the song to Waits' 1973 hit, featured on his album "Closing Time," according to NME.

Some are even claiming Adele plagiarized Waits' "Martha."

Lyrics in Waits' track read, "Hello, hello there, is this Martha? / This is old Tom Frost, and I'm calling long distance. Don't worry 'bout the cost / Cause it's been 40 years or more, now Martha please recall / Meet me out for coffee, where we'll talk about it all."

Meanwhile the lyrics in Adele's song read, "Hello, it's me / I was wondering if after all these years / You'd like to meet, to go over everything."

Even though the lyrics of each song, along with the theme of reconciliation with an ex-lover, seem similar, the melodies of the two songs are completely different.

Adele's producer Greg Kurstin admitted to Entertainment Weekly that the singer's new album was partly inspired by Waits.

"She didn't want to just go through and write a pop song with any particular formula," Kurstin said. "We talked about Tom Waits, and different storytellers like that. I think that was the idea, that we wanted to do something that was very honest about where she was at right now, and she wanted to do something that was real and believable."

Adele's third studio album, "25," her follow-up to 2011's "21," will be released on Friday, Nov. 20. Her single "Hello" sold over 1.1 million digital songs in its first week.

She is set to perform on "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 21, when Matthew McConaughey will serve as host. Her one-hour NBC concert special "Adele Live in New York City" at Radio City Music Hall, will air on Monday, Dec. 14.
