The original "Bloodborne" game teased the possibility of players turning into some kind of beast after accomplishing a set of tasks. Even though a weapon called the Beast Claw was attainable in the game, a complete transformation was never found.

Now that The Old Hunters DLC has been released, the possibility has turned into a reality. However, there will be "Bloodborne" spoilers ahead, so be warned.

The new expansion pack does offer beast transformation to players, but it isn't given away freely. Players must first defeat the optional boss known as Laurence, the First Vicar, who can be quite difficult to vanquish.

IGN notes that players will receive the Beast's Embrace Oath Rune once Laurence is defeated. All they have to do next is to simply go back to Hunter's Dream and equip the Beast's Embrace Oath Rune. While in beast mode, equipping the Beast Claws will unlock a new set of attack moves plus a ferocious roar.

As good as this may seem for die-hard "Bloodborne" fans, the transformation serves more as a cherry on top of the cake. After thrashing Laurence, there really isn't much more to do in "Bloodborne" besides upgrading the new Moonlight Great Sword, exploring higher level Chalice Dungeons or starting a new game entirely. But chances are, if players are fully equipped to challenge Laurence, then they have already done all that is required in the game.

Who knows? The ability might be useful in the next "Bloodborne" DLC.

The original "Bloodborne" game was released earlier this year as a PlayStation 4-exclusive. It had shipped close to two million copies worldwide while garnering rave reviews.

GameSpot said that the game is "rewarding to play" and gave it a 9/10. On the other hand, MetaCritic gave it a 92/100 rating.

"Bloodborne" dips players into a sprawling and gothic world where excitement and anxiety can be expected in every corner. Game reviewers admit that some levels need a certain amount of precision to complete, but the struggle only makes players more invested in the game.

As for the newly released The Old Hunters expansion pack, Sony Japan's studio producer Masaaki Yamagiwa wrote about it on the PlayStation blog:

"Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You'll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy."
