Although "Thief Gold" dates back to the late 1990s, for some unexplained reason, it is one of the best-selling games on Amazon.com for the entire year. We're not sure if that solely has to do with price (it costs less than $4!), or the fact that... well, we're really just not sure.

After all, there are many old games out there that were well-received upon release which have since been forgotten about. Perhaps the release of "Thief 4" earlier this year has something to do with "Thief Gold's" rise in popularity. That's our best educated guess, at least.

Here's a little background on "Thief," in case you're unfamiliar. Back in the mid-to-late 1990s, violent shoot-em-ups were all the rage on the PC. This genre was popularized with "Doom" in 1993, then kicked into high gear with "Quake." After that, titles like "Unreal, ""Unreal Tournament," "Blood" and others ushered the first person shooter to greater heights.

However, some game developers weren't satisfied with making just another violent shooter. So, we got "Thief," which ditched guns and gore for stealth and smarts. The point of the game wasn't to kill everything that moves, but to actually avoid combat, while completing objectives which ranged from stealing valuables to corrupt nobles, to stealing ancient artifacts from various villains.

The game was highly rated, and beloved by many who played it. The original "Thief" spawned multiple sequels, including "Thief Gold," which is a revamped version of the original game.

One of the reasons why the original "Thief" and "Thief Gold" were so warmly received was due to the level of difficulty of each mission. The levels were quite challenging, and required you to employ both physical and mental skills, so finishing each mission gave you a sense of accomplishment.

With that in mind, if you find any of the missions in "Thief Gold" a bit too challenging, you might want to lean on this level skip trick to move onto the next stage. However, you should only do so if you've exhausted every idea you have to beat whatever level is stumping you.

This trick is provided courtesy of cheatcc.comTo skip a level in "Thief Gold," all you have to do is press the following key combination on your PC's keyboard: Ctrl, Alt, Shift and End.
