On Friday, Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee announced she would be producing a biopic about her father alongside producers Janet Yang, Lawrence Grey and Ben Everard, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Lee explained though her father has appeared in many films, there has yet to be a feature film that discusses his entire life story. With this upcoming biopic, Shannon explains she hopes to highlight Bruce's philosophies, extensive writings and martial art skills.

"There have been projects out there involving my father," Shannon said. "But they've lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling. The only way to get audiences to understand the depth and uniqueness of my father is to generate our own material."

The Hollywood Reporter reports Shannon was only 4 years old when Bruce passed away. THR suggests that Shannon's decision to produce a Bruce Lee biopic may stem from the fact that other Bruce Lee movies are in the works without the input or consent from Bruce's family.

Now, with the launch of Bruce Lee Entertainment, Shannon has plans to launch several projects including a television series with "Fast & Furious" helmer Justin Lin based on an original idea by Bruce.

Bruce Lee Entertainment also plans to create a reality based show that will be launched in China by "John Wick" actor Keanu Reeves and producerStephen Hamel of Company Films, says Deadline.

So far, the title and the release date of the Bruce Lee biopic has yet to be announced.

Following the news of the biopic, Lee fans flocked to Twitter to share in the excitement of the upcoming film.
