Not everything about the Apple line is lovable, and that includes the latest Smart Battery Case from the tech giant.

As many call it "the hump," Apple CEO Tim Cook responds to comments with less concern to the issue. In an interview with Mashable about the latest Smart Battery Case, Cook said, "You know, I probably wouldn't call it 'the hump', one of the real insights here is, have you ever used other cases and tried to get them on?"

Cook's comment has been in reference to another brand of battery casing that presented an extremely hard way of putting it on.

Instead of addressing the issue, Cook suggested the different ways the Smart Battery Case is a positive idea and that it shouldn't be a problem to people who charge their phones daily.

He also added that the design is mainly for travelers, saying, "But if you're out hiking and you go on overnight trips, it's kind of nice to have." While most of the reactions to the iPhone's smart battery case poke fun on the design, it's really about its use and practicality that the company sees. Some think that Apple is actually messing with its customers with a battery case for the iPhone that cost $99.

According to Business Insider, Cook has been downplaying the odd design of the iPhone battery case by saying that it adds more battery juice rather than admitting that their devices have low battery life. In comparison, the smart battery case of the iPhone line is much more practical and easier to use as compared to Mophie, its other brand counterpart. Mophie, on the other hand, has a hard casing that tends to challenge the patience of the person putting it on and off. Tim Cook relied on that setback, implying that the iPhone's Smart Battery Case is easy to put on and off.

The Verge noted that while the Smart Battery Case's main purpose is to extend battery life, they said that "it doesn't measure up." That goes for the different aspects of the Smart Battery Case as well, including its performance, price and design. To sum it all, it's really about "the hump" that made the Smart Battery Case likely unlikable and Apple's CEO thinks it's not a big deal.
