Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has been performing comfortably along the presidential campaign trail as polling data shows him consistently in the top five. But to win a political party's nomination, donations are crucial.

Rubio's campaign has reassured donors and contributors about its trail activity. According to Politico, Rubio detailed his campaign activity during a call with donors last Tuesday. He reportedly denied media claims he's running on a "passive campaign."

"I'm amused at those stories," said Rubio said, based on a phone participant's notes, via Politico. "We said at the outset that this campaign was going to be about ideas and our message so we don't spend much time talking about process or strategy."

He added, "Just because we aren't telling the media our strategy doesn't mean we're not organized."

The call comes as he made a three-day campaign trip in New Hampshire, one of the crucial primary states, before taking a break for Christmas. As Latin Post reported, Rubio's campaign in New Hampshire focused on meeting voters and sharing his stances on national security and economy.

According to the Boston Globe's polling data inside New Hampshire, released on Dec. 18, the Florida senator holds second place within the GOP presidential field. Rubio tied with fellow Sen. Ted Cruz, of Texas, at 12.4 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also landed in double digits with 10.8 percent. Holding the top spot is businessman Donald Trump with 26 percent.

One advantage Rubio has over Trump is favorability. From 430 New Hampshire residents surveys, 278 respondents have either a "very" or "somewhat" favorable opinion of Rubio, which is higher than the 234 people who have a "very" or "somewhat" position view of the current GOP front-runner.

The New Hampshire primary is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9. The primary will occur after the first caucus in Iowa, set for Feb. 1.
