Spain has been battling forest fires, which is highly associated by Forestry Association to "cattle farming interests."

According to BBC, Raul de la Calle, head of the Forestry Association, said that the forest fires are hardly caused by Spain's unusual high temperature, but by cattle farmers who thinks the fire on the pasture will make it more appetizing to animals.

In Cantabria, 80 cases of forest fires have been recorded and destroyed at least 2,000 hectares of ecological spots. While the forest fires have not reached any of the inhabited areas, the risk of becoming a threat is possible if the forest wild fires cannot be contained.

The high winds, especially those coming from the north, have added to the risk of growing forest fires. In Asturias, however, officials have contained 31 of the 38 cases of wildfires and are currently working on killing the rest.

The regions of Cantabria, Basque Country and Asturias contributed to the total of 120 forest fire cases in Spain. In a statement given by Miguel Angel Revilla, head of the Cantabria regional government, he said, "This threatens the present and future of Cantabria's landscape. There are arsonists, people with bad intentions who are taking advantage of weather conditions never seen before in Cantabria."

The three regions now have a combined area of 54,000 hectares destroyed by the forest fires. Agricultural and forest lands were not spared on the catastrophe, and Spanish officials continue to work on something that will stop the wildfires.

Officials are now asking the help of its locals to be more careful on their lands and be very responsible in handling their farming machinery. Officials have also sought the help of its local people in determining the real cause of the forest fires. Security warnings were also announced in order to warn farmers from avoiding affected areas.

Cantabria suffers most in the forest fires and the threat that the situation brings to the agricultural aspect of the region is damaging. Currently, there are over 287 soldiers deployed in the area of Cantabria to help cease the wildfires.

Spain is not the only country who has been suffering forest fires. California is one state that has experienced one of the most dangerous wildfires.
