Despite BlackBerry's announcement that they will not be releasing new devices based on the BlackBerry 10 OS, WhatsApp released update 2.12.280.2 for BlackBerry 10 users, per MobiPicker. 

According to the news outlet, BlackBerry 10 received its last WhatsApp update 10 months ago, giving the iOS and Android platform the edge when it comes to WhatsApp updates.

 

This new update has also listed a changelog, which means that the app will be receiving some new features including updated contact information, added support for web link previews in messages as well as support for additional web client features. WhatsApp update 2.12.280.2 will also fix issues on automated nightly backup that starts in the middle of a voice call.

Other bug fixes were also included to enhance the performance of WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10. Currently, the WhatsApp 2.12.280.2 update is in its beta version. Beta versions normally receive the most comments from users as it serves as a trial version prior to its final launching.
