Dominick Cruz was successful in winning back his bantamweight title when he outlasted former champion T.J. Dillashaw via a split decision in a five-round classic technical bout at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston last Sunday. One fighter who is excited regardless of the outcome is Urijah Faber, who immediately called out his longtime rival in an interview on FOX Sports 1.

"You've got to give it to him. What a journey he's been on. He's a real champion; he's a true champion. He's only lost to one team, that's Team Alpha Male. He's only lost to one guy and that's me. I feel like I beat him the second time also," Faber said as quoted by Sherdog.

He insisted that both of them are waiting for the opportunity for a rubber match and he is thankful that Cruz has healed up even though it has taken three years. "Let's do it, Dom. It's been a long time coming," the Team Alpha Male leader added.

Cruz responded back to Faber, pointing out the number of title shots that "The California Kid" had and ending up losing all of them. He added that he was very happy despite fighting twice in the last four years because people were still calling him out.

"I'm still talking about him? I don't even want to talk about him. How many title shots has he had? Look at all these guys looking to take out a guy who's had one minute of fighting in the last four years. So I guess I've got to pat myself on the back," Cruz said.

"The Dominator" has missed three of the last four years due to several injuries including two left ACL surgeries in 2012 and 2013. He also tore his right ACL and suffered a groin muscle injury in 2015 that caused him to miss the entire year, per FOX Sports.

Cruz's only career loss came from Faber back in 2007 when he was submitted using a guillotine choke at WEC 26. He avenged his defeat in 2011 when he outpointed his rival in a unanimous decision win at UFC 132, but Cruz was repeatedly hit with a right hand with one punch sending him to the ground in the fourth round.

The 36-year-old Faber is 0-3 in UFC title matches, but he has won three of his last four fights including a unanimous decision over Frankie Saenz at UFC 194. However, there is still a possibility of a rematch between Cruz and Dillashaw as several people believe that the champ should have retained his title, but the UFC can't go wrong with Cruz vs. Faber III, per MMA Mania.
