Even Bill O' Reilly's powers of persuasion did not work for leading GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Following his announcement that he will boycott the upcoming Fox News-hosted GOP debate, Donald Trump made a guest appearance at "The O' Reilly Factor" as the host tried to convince him to change his mind.

According to a report by Business Insider, O Reilly repeatedly said that The Donald was making a big mistake and he's wasting a chance to show the Iowa voters that he is a strong leader.

O' Reilly said to Trump, "You're running for president. I believe you want to improve the country. I believe that personally."

However, Trump was adamant on his stance and said that he will ditch the debate in favor of hosting a fund raiser for U.S. veterans. Throughout the segment, the Republican presidential candidate complained again and again that he will not attend the debate, as long as Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly will be the host.

Kelly, who Trump has been attacking since August, earned the ire of the mogul-turned-politician when she asked him about his disparaging remarks against women. In her defense, O' Reilly said to Trump that what Kelly did was in the "journalistic bounds."

"The O' Reilly Factor" host said to Trump that even he would ask the same question, had he became the chosen host back in the first Republican presidential debate.

O' Reilly noted that Trump should look into his "Christian fate" and forget about the Kelly issue and go on with the debate.

But The Donald countered that he was following a different Christian tenet and said that he follows an "eye for an eye" kind of approach.

O' Reilly countered back and said that "No, no, no, no. If you're the Christian, the 'eye for the eye' rule goes out. Here's what it is: Turning the other cheek."

In a last ditch effort, O' Reilly even pandered to Trump's supposed patriotism and said that attending the Fox News Debate would be for the country. In fact, he even offered that he would team up with The Donald with his planned event for veterans.

Trump remained adamant and said that he will not change his mind, while adding that the only reason he went to "The O' Reilly Factor" was because he promised Bill a week ago and would not want to back out on his word, CBC has learned.

It seems that Trump would not change his mind because he indirectly called Megyn Kelly a bimbo.

With his plan to convince the politician a failure, he finished the exchange by thanking Trump for coming to his show.
