Concept cars at motor shows are sideshows on their own. Having them around is a showcase of up-and-coming technology and radical new design in the motor industry. Aside from their fancy looks and unique features, the allure of these prototype vehicles comes from the fact that they are primarily just that -- prototypical.

As much as they are pleasing to the eyes, we may never really get the chance to see these cars in the flesh as road legal, mass-produced vehicles.

The 2016 Geneva Motor Show is not bereft of these show cars. Here are some of the latest concept cars we want to see on the road if we could have it our way.

The GT Sports Car Concept is what Opel has in mind for what a future sports car should be, according to CarBuzz. Opel describes the GT Concept as "avant-garde yet puristic," which is very much manifested via its bare design where the door handles, windshield wipers and exterior door mirrors are a thing of the past. It is a small car that can deliver 145 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque with the help of its 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine.

"This prototype is already on a very close level to mass production. When you see the final car, you will probably think it's still the prototype," lead designer Diasuke Tsutamori told Auto Express. While the model currently displayed at the Geneva Show has no engine, dashboard and seats, Tsutamori assures customers that the production car will be as versatile and practical as its competitors. It will come available with engine trims of 1.0- and 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engines as well as a 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel.

For Subaru, the XV Concept's design is the"next-generation dynamic and solid design philosophy," wrote Car and Driver. And from the looks of it, the production version of the XV Concept could be expected to replace the current generation XV Crosstrek. It has a 61.8-inch height x 75.9-inch width x 177.9-inch length, with a wheelbase of 105.1 inches. There are no details on its engine specs, but the XV Crosstrek currently in the market is sporting a 2.0-liter engine capable of 148 horsepower.

Don't let the size of this subcompact crossover fool you. The T-Cross Concept is big when it comes to gas mileage with its 47-MPG Euro cycle fuel economy and a range of 500 miles for every 10.6 gallons of gas, says CNET. It is equipped with a 1.0-liter gas engine that can deliver 108 horsepower.

The H2 Concept is Pinifarina's take on environment-friendly vehicles, per AutoBlog. This green car runs on hydrogen fuel cell for a clean emission and is packed with a pair of electric motors to deliver 496 horsepower. It has a max speed of 186 mph and can go from 0 to 62 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
