LeBron James appears to have all the motivation he needs in his Cleveland Cavaliers still budding rivalry with Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors for the 2016-2017 NBA season. The King barely had time to celebrate the Cavs' conquering of the then world champs before the Warriors' were announcing they were adding Kevin Durant to a Big 3 core that already boasts Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

In time, James responded in the only way he knows how, not to mention that that truly matters.

James in the gym

Word is the three-time NBA champ and four-time league MVP instantly increased his summer workout regimen in hopes of preparing himself for the Warriors and making sure he and his Cavs are ready to defend their crown.

More recently, James insisted he thinks Durant signing with the Golden State to form what some are calling a super team is good for the NBA.

"I think it's all great for our league," he said. "Our league is very competitive. It's continued to grow, and [NBA Commissioner] Adam Silver has done a great job of picking up where David Stern started, so it's pretty cool.

Without question, the true beneficiaries are NBA fans, who now stand to gain the privilege of witnessing one of the sports world most heated rivalries up close and personal and largely from its infancy.

Free agent center Zaza Pachulia figures to join Durant, Curry, Green and Thompson in a Warriors' starting five that should be even more explosive than last year's record-setting 73-win team.

Nothing the Cavs have down this offseason comes close to matching the intrigue or star wattage of adding someone the caliber of Durant to the mix.

Cavs' Tweaks

But then, the champs already have proven chemistry on their side, with starters Kyrie Irving, J.R. Smith, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson all joining James' for another run.

And it's not as if their tweaks figure to be inconsequential, Mike Dunleavy seems tailor-made for the Cavs' system and Chris "Birdman" Anderson could provide veteran help on the inside.

The two face off for the first time during the 2016-17 season on Christmas Day. From there, the rest figures to be history.
