In the second half of next year, Mazda will bring a CX-5 diesel crossover to the US market. It's been a decade they have been talking about bringing its 2.2- liter Skyactiv D diesel engine to the U.S market. And, it looks like the model:2017 CX-5 has a firm date now.

According to MotorTrend, the new Mazda will arrive to North America, but there are no proper specifications on the date. The 2017 CX-5 was unveiled at the LA Auto Show - no specifications were provided that time, except for the fact that it will have a cylinder-type engine. Akira Marumoto, Mazda's Executive Vice President, said at the press conference that the engine has taken longer than they expected, but this blend of power and emissions sophistication was critical.

He also added that the engines will be offering hybrid versions for fuel efficiency. They are confident that North American drivers will like it as it offers performance and fuel economy.

There were a lot of cars that Mazda has sold in the US over the past few years, but it has never launched a fuel-burning passenger car there. Reports from Left LA News says that the 2.2 liter four-cylinder is already available in a handful of global markets, including Australia and Europe.

In Europe, the buyers will be asked to choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a six speed automatic. The engine generates 172 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 309 pound-feet of torque t 2,000 rpm. These are specification for just these places, and there are no technical specifications for the US to this day.

To make sure that the diesel performs well on road, they are implementing proprietary technologies. The CX-5 is expected to hit off soon and it's said to be one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. The model goes on sale by next February in global markets.
