The newest Major League Baseball game for video gamers on the market is MLB 14: The Show.

Luckily for Sony fans, it is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

On the cover of the game is Venezuelan-born Detroit Tigers outfielder Miguel Cabrera. It comes as no surprise to fans that Cabrera is on the cover of the 2014 edition of the game -- his 2013 season put him among the all-time greats. Last season, Cabrera hit 44 home runs, had 137 RBIs, and had an outstanding .348 batting average. That was the highest batting average of his career. Clearly, unlike the Madden NFL video games, MLB 14: The Show doesn't have a "cover curse."

MLB 14 hasn't been out very long, but it has gathered very high reviews so far.

Gamespot.com gave the game an 8 out of 10 stars based on 14 reviews. Gamefaqs.com rated it the highest sports video game, even ahead of FIFA 2014 and Madden NFL 25. Many players of the game like reality and the difficulty of the game compared to previous editions. Examples include shadows, the ability to see fans, and the way the lighting reflects off helmets. The difficulty and special effects have improved somewhat, however, the gameplay remains most similar to other editions of the game and there have been some issues with lag times with online play.
