Google had been delayed the rollout of Fiber in 11 cities last year, which the clients have been worried over what this implies. But it seems that the company has not been yet abandoned the service, as Business Insider spotted in FCC filings of Google's new 4K wireless set-top box on the way.

According to Tech Radar, Google is cooking up a 4K UHD wireless set-top box that is equipped with a 4.1 Bluetooth and double band Wi-Fi, and here is one thing, the set-up box has the access to YouTube in a 4K, as well. The said 4K Fiber TV box was initially reported a year ago by 9to5 Google, but at that time the details of it were limited.

The report that filed with the US Federal Communications Commission includes the confidential images of the device, as well as the user manual, which leads many to think that the 4K Fiber TV box could come sooner or later. But, in the first official confirmation, as reported that 4K Fiber TV box will be the first box from the company that operates wirelessly.

Digital Trends reported that the 4K Fiber TV box is equipped with 4x4 5GHz 802.11a/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1 radio. The Google 4K Fiber TV boxes have included a limited Wi-Fi network before, but the wording implies that this one will be tethered by a wired connection, taking into account more flexible placement in the house.

In the initial reports of the new 4K Fiber TV box specified having the capacity to stream from YouTube in High Dynamic Range (HDR). This is not immediately clear in the FCC filings, yet Google's Chromecast Ultra is also supported with HDR, so it is impossible that Google would not include this kind of functionality in the device.

The only issue is that Google's new set-top box will only available for Fiber subscribers inside the 11 supported cities, no Fiber, no 4K set-top box from Google. And with those confidential images and reports will be open to the public on August 8, 2017.
