The tremendous Sonic series has already been marked with its 25the anniversary this year by Sega. The well-known game maker and publisher now announced some important insights about its next two installments of this series at a panel of South by Southwest. The company stated that "Sonic Mania" will see some delay in its official release and the long-awaited project "Sonic 2017" will debut with a new name.

According to Gamespot, "Sonic Mania" was earlier hinted to release in the spring of this year. But it has now been settled by Sega to debut in the summer of 2017. Although, the gaming authority refused to announce any specific launch date, but it revealed much about the upcoming game's content. Sega stated that the game will open up the gates for new enemies, skill sets and a supreme return of Flying Battery Zone. Additionally, the game will be launched with preorder bonuses and a collector's edition vinyl album. The publisher further indicated the game will be packed with more exciting stuff.

As for the "Sonic 2017," Sega revealed that the game has been retitled as "Sonic Forces." As per IGN, the renaming was confirmed by the company on their 'the Sonic the Hedgehog' Twitter account. It was further said that the game will see a newly evolved engine named 'The Hedgehog Engine 2.' The tweet also indicated about the official revelation of the first ever gameplay teaser of Modern Sonic. "Sonic Forces" will reportedly officially debut in the last phase of 2017.

Sega earlier hinted that "Sonic Mania" will come on Nintendo Switch alongside PlaySation 4, Xbox One and PC. The company now confirmed that "Sonic Forces" will also make its official entry on all the above-mentioned platforms as well. The company didn't spare any words about the availability of both the games. But matching with the latest gaming trends, Sega is expected to unveil both the titles worldwide.
