Samsung's biggest dilemma from last year may be counting its last months in the hands of its owners when a forced update will eventually prevent it from charging. The Korean multinational conglomerate announces on Friday its plans of entirely phasing out all that was left of the unfortunate Galaxy Note 7. And the remaining more or less 4 percent stubborn techies who did not comply with its return policy will have to wait for their units to dramatically die of empty batteries.

According to reports from TNW, Samsung will be forcing software updates to unreturned Galaxy Note 7 which will prevent the unit to charge. Since there is still a roughly 4 percent faulty units of Galaxy Note 7 that is still spread out from all over the world, Samsung needs a drastic approach to end the imminent danger of using this product. On August 2016, Samsung launched the sixth unit under the Galaxy Note Series, however, barely reaching one month, Samsung ordered a recall and replacement of a batch of units believed to be from one specific supplier.

Nevertheless, the replacements still have reported cases of overheating, thus on October 2016, all units of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 were subjected to return or refund policies. Until this moment, Samsung has been urging those who manage to keep their units to return them and avoid this troublemaker smartphones to make a scene. For those who ignore the dangers attached to it, Mail Online reports that Samsung will make sure they will not be able to use their phones ever again.

The forced software update has already been utilized to some countries, apart from the other disabling strategies of Samsung like blocking their ability to connect to wireless networks. The haunting past of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 must be wiped off entirely before the arrival of the much anticipated and newest flagship phone of Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S8. Galaxy S8 is scheduled to launch on March 30 at the Samsung Unpacked Event.
