Samsung is doing its best to keep quiet on the details of its latest and greatest piece of technology, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. That's still not keeping people from speculating about the new smartphone, however.

The first bit of speculation comes by way of an invitation by the brass at Samsung for their Unpacked event to be held right before the IFA electronics conference. Though they did not formally state that they would be debuting the Note 3 there, they have in the past and alluded to the new phone by saying "Note The Date" on the invitation.

"It's official: the "next Galaxy" (read, the Note 3) will be formally introduced to the world on September 4 2013. Samsung has just sent out invites for the event, and one of the landed in our inbox. The event will start at 7PM CEST, which is 1PM New York time," reported tech site Android Authority.

The Samsung Galaxy Note brand was truly a game-changer in the smart phone market. With its large size and scope of functionality, it gave way to the (slightly cringe-worthy) portmanteau of "phone" and "tablet," the "phablet." Given all of the possibilities with its large size, there have been no end to rumors about what kind of technology will be found inside.

"A supposed Note 3 leak back in April suggested an eight-core Exynos 5410 Samsung Exynos Octa processor with the Cortex A15 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, and a Cortex A7 core at 1.7GHz. This rumor was further fueled by SamMobile in May. Citing a trusted adviser they also backed the suggestion that the Note 3 will have 3GB of RAM. GSM Insider spotted the Samsung SM-N9005 in the AnTuTu Benchmark database and reckons it is the Note 3, writes Simon Hill of digitaltrends.com.

It gets even better, however. Rumor also has it that the Note 3 will come with a flexible screen. Before you get too excited, however, you won't be able to just roll your cell phone up and stick it in your pocket. The frame will still be solid, and the flexibility in the screen is only to minimize the risk of the screen cracking. There's also this juicy bit of technology:

"The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also rumored to come with Samsung's new eye tracking technology, Eye Pause, which will pause a video you are watching when you move your eyes away from the display and Eye Scroll, which will scroll up and down web pages using your eyes," reports Geeky Gadgets. That's a feature that debuted on the Galaxy S4 earlier this year, and now it comes to the big screen.

It is still uncertain when the Note 3 will officially hit the market and how much it will go for when it does. Several sites, including Geeky Gadgets claim to have sources that expect a late September release, though whether that's for the U.S. or the U.K. remains to be seen. A price point of at least $600 is expected for the next-gen phablet.
