At the Biofabricate conference held at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan last 2016 and unveiled its new futuristic biodegradable shoes that can be reportedly dissolved in 36 hours. The Adidas Biosteel fiber shoes are made up from a material that designed to be an ultra-strong and lighter than the other synthetic materials that developed by a German biotech company AMSilk.

According to TechCrunch, the shoe concept was derived from the limited edition Parley shoes, which is made by using a 95 percent of ocean waste. It is most notable since the Adidas Biosteel fiber is a 100 percent naturally biodegradable. There are certain attempt to go beyond the next level of sustainability by moving the recycled material to a human-created material while the shoes is still a prototype.

The Adidas Biosteel fiber was inspired by a spider silk which also has the same protein with a 100 percent biodegradable and bio-sourced. The Biosteel yarn is developed by a natural carbon that is fermented and converted into a white powder, unlike the other used of material in shoe production that is completely vegan such as the leather.

Business Insider reported that the Adidas Biosteel fiber is a 15 percent lighter than the basic synthetic fiber. In the first glance, the Biosteel fiber is hard to recognized if it is a synthetic material or not. The protein -based Biosteel yarn is formed at the top of the shoe with a beige color which coincides of the white large sole at the bottom.

The material used of the sole is made up of TPU plastic foam that is found in Adidas UltraBoost shoes, which produces less waste than the normal sneakers. With the combination of materials Biosteel fiber for the top and TPU plastic foam for the sole, it gives a flexible and good quality, which definitely gives a decent running shoe.

There are no words regarding with the cost of the Adidas Biosteel fiber shoes, yet the shoes will be available at some point in 2017. AMSilk's CEO, Jens Klein said that the price of the new Adidas Biosteel fiber shoes will be going to be at a premium price, yet affordable for all the consumers.
