Dania Ramirez is playing a big role in Jumanji: The Next Level

A Dominican girl who for the first time playing video games in the United States is now making her dreams come true by acting in a big movie about a video game.

Dominican-American actress Dania Ramirez, will be playing the role of an avatar in Jumanji: The Next Level. In an article published in NBC News, Dania Ramirez said: "I grew up in a crowded apartment with my family living in one bedroom, and a second family living in another bedroom and for a Dominican girl who played video games for the first time in the United States, and is now acting in a big movie about a video game, this is my American dream."

The family of Dania Ramirez emigrated from the Dominican Republic to New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights when she was 10 years old. She said that playing video games helped her build confidence and essentially follow her dreams. 

Ramirez said: "We live in an age where everything is electronic. And many kids are not ready to be judged by the Internet and social media," She is also known for her role on TV shows like "Heroes," "Devious Maids, "Entourage," and "X-Men: The Last Stand." 

Ramirez also added that playing video games could help a person feel more confident, teach them to solve problems faster, and to follow their dreams. 

Jumanji: The Next Level is the sequel to the 2017 adventure comedy blockbuster by the same name starring Hollywood mega-stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart.

The movie is about a group of four high school students who were pulled into a video game console. They were locked inside the video game and they have to survive in dangerous and ridiculous obstacles most of the time.

This year, there will be a twist in the movie. Spencer has been sucked backed into the video game. However, there will be new characters. Martha, Bethany, and Fridge will team up with Spencer's grandfather and a family friend to help Spencer bring him home.

Ramirez's role in Jumanji: The Next Level is very significant because her role is an avatar who will guide the players through clues. Meanwhile, she said that being an avatar is not only an on-screen role but also an off-screen because through avatars it will guide a person to explore their identity.

Ramirez said: "When my children play video games, they sometimes get excited figuring out how they can make their avatars look more like them and as a Latina, representation in video games and media is important because they need to represent the diversity we live in. And avatars are helping players explore who they are."

The movie could help the perspectives of the Jumanji fans because hey could use the avatar as their guide and reimagine themselves to a different character. Ramirez also said that as a mother she allowed her kids to play video games and make it a drill of a lifelong journey. She added "Video games in moderation can be both good and necessary but if you play all the time, you will lose your social skills. I encourage my kids to play face to face with others so that they can feel their reality and not lose touch."

Ramirez concluded that playing video games can help someone to have a bigger perspective in life and working hard to make the dreams come true which is something that connects everyone in this world.
