Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have been married for 18 years, but it is reported that the actress has filed for divorce.

According to TMZ, Griffith cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce documents. Laura Wasser, a high-powered divorced attorney, filed the paperwork. The couple has one daughter, Sheila, who is almost 18. Griffith has asked for sole physical and joint legal custody of their daughter, and she has asked for child support.

She also asked for spousal support, and TMZ noted that the parting was amicable.

Last night Griffith attended the AFI Life Achievement Gala in honor of Jane Fonda in Hollywood. Griffith went by herself but was seen wearing her wedding ring, according to New York Daily News.

Banderas was spotted with his daughter having a "quiet and low-key" lunch on Wednesday in Beverly Hills, People reported.

In 2012, the couple shot down relationship trouble rumors.

There seems to be some complications surrounding their divorce since they both own a lot of real estate in the United States and in Spain.

For Griffith, this will be her fourth divorce. She was married twice to Don Johnson, who is the father of their daughter and "Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson, 24, and she was also married to Steve Bauer. And it will be Banderas' second divorce. He was previously married to Ana Leza, a Spanish actress. They parted ways in 1996 after nine years of marriage.

Banderas was seen last month getting close to French actress Natalie Burn during the Cannes Film Festival. At that time, it was Griffith's sister who spoke up to RadarOnline and said the couple was doing fine.

Earlier this year, Griffith and Banderas were seen in the Bahamas. Griffith even took some pictures of Banderas.
